Hair FAQs
At Halo Hair Collective, we believe luxury doesn’t end at purchase: it continues with how you care for your extensions. Every bundle is crafted to last, but the secret to keeping them soft, silky, and flawless lies in a consistent aftercare routine. With the right products and techniques, your hair will not only maintain its natural beauty but also stand the test of time. This guide is here to ensure your investment looks and feels as incredible as the day it arrived.Raw hair and Remy hair extensions are premium products which deserves premium care. With the right care routine, your extensions will stay glossy, soft and last for years. Following these steps is crucial in protecting your investment and maximising your styles.
Step 1: Gentle Detangling
Handle your extensions as you would your natural hair. Gently tease out knots with your fingers first, then use a wide-toothed comb to minimise breakage. Avoid pulling or tugging to minimise excess shedding.
Tip: For wavy textures, always detangle when wet to avoid unnecessary shedding or damage.
Step 2: Cleansing
Raw hair may carry natural coarseness or light frizz, so nourishing products are essential. Choose a sulfate-free shampoo and a rich conditioner, massaging gently from root to tip. Always rinse thoroughly with cool water to seal the cuticle, lock in hydration, and enhance shine.
Cool rinses also slow colour fading on dyed hair.
Step 3: Hydration
Moisture is the secret to longevity. Use lightweight serums to keep hair soft, smooth, and frizz-free. Apply leave-in conditioner sparingly, as too much product can cause buildup when combined with other products.
Step 4: Drying
Drying properly is key. After washing, gently blot excess water with a microfibre towel, never rub or wring. For wigs or bundles, allow to air-dry on a stand. If installed, ensure your hair beneath is completely dry by sitting under a hood dryer on medium heat for at least an hour.
This step reduces frizz, prevents mildew and maintains curl definition.
Step 5: Styling
Human hair styles beautifully but responds best to minimal heat. Always apply a heat protectant, keep tools at a maximum of 350°F (180°C), and avoid prolonged exposure. For everyday looks, embrace the natural texture to preserve the cuticle’s health.
Step 6: Storage
Protect your investment when not in use. Store extensions in the silk bag provided or a clean, dry box, ensuring they are completely dry before storage. This keeps the hair free from tangling, dust and odour.
Raw Hair Extensions
Our raw hair can be coloured and dyed just like your own natural hair. Each bundle comes from one donor, which means it can be lightened all the way to blonde #613 (level 9–10). You may need 1–2 rounds of bleaching to get that true #613 colour.
Virgin Hair Extensions
Virgin bundles are made from hair collected from different donors, so they don’t always bleach as light. This hair can usually be lifted up to level 6 (a light brown shade) safely. This protects the hair from breaking or shedding too much when it goes through chemical treatments. We do not recommend you lighten your virgin bundles to #613.
